In my humble opinion, I believe ALL children are special. Don't you think so? Whether they are consider to be a special needs kid with a diagnosis, a child with a learning disability or just a typical developing child they are all special in their own ways. Our focus is Inclusion. No child should feel left out, no matter the age, race, color, creed or disability. If you are a parent of a child with special needs, you are aware that most activities and social interactions inadvertently leave our children out.
At The Autism Project- FLOS Inc., we know and understand firsthand what means to feel welcomed, safe, and included. Just one of the crowd! All events offered focus on our special needs children first but strive to all family members, siblings and “typical” children. By allowing typical developing children to also attend we are able to give special needs individuals the social interaction they need. It is a great teaching tool for our typical developing children as well. They learn to be a part of something different and they learn how to better adapt to those individuals that are not the same as them. It is about fostering a give and take within the community and making the transition into community and school easier for special needs individuals.
